Montana has a diverse economy. Mineral resources are considerable. The State has large reserves of copper, oil, natural gas and coal (lignite). The other resources are gold, money, phosphates, zinc and manganese.

Agriculture, essentially practiced in the wide valleys of the Rochosos and by dry-farming on the steppes of the high plains, refers essentially to the breeding (cattle, pigs and sheep), cereals (wheat and barley), forage plants and sugar beet. Forestry is a very important activity.

Industries

The industries rest primarily on the treatment and processing of primarily agricultural and mineral materials: industries derived from wood, agri-food, metallurgy (copper, zinc, lead), chemistry and industries derived from oil and coal. Tourism is very active in Rochosas. The most frequented places are the Glacier National Park, the historic site of the battle of Little Bighorn (1876), the remains of the Holy Mary 's Mission (1841) or the Bannack State Monument, a ghost town. Important ski resorts were created (Big Sky Ski Area, Red Lodge-Grizzly Peak).
