Business relations
Trade relations with the EU
According to data for 2021, goods with a total value of EUR 1,211.50 were imported from the EU to Macao. The volume of goods imported from Macao is very negligible. The year 2021 confirms an increase in interest in European luxury goods (leather goods, clothing, watches and jewelry, food and beverages, and automobiles). Prospects are in tourism, the gaming industry, the construction industry, energy and transport, which is related to the ongoing and planned construction of a number of infrastructure projects.

Foreign direct investment
FTAs and treaties
Macau has its own aviation, consular, economic and judicial agreements that do not apply in the rest of the PRC and vice versa. The Czech Republic has an Aviation Agreement with Macao dated 25.9.2001.
Developmental cooperation
Macao SAR does not accept development aid. Information on the development aid provided by it is not available.
Prospective fields of study (MOP)
Food industry
Agriculture in Macau is quite limited due to its area, 98% of agricultural products are imported. To a large extent, Macao, like Hong Kong, imports e.g. powdered milk. There is also increased demand for organic food and healthy nutrition. The beverage industry can also be considered promising. That is, products such as wine, liqueurs, beer, or mineral waters.
Design
The construction of hotels and the popularity of the city as a center of the gaming industry on the part of mobile citizens of the PRC creates opportunities for Czech companies in the segment of branded consumer goods, e.g. luxury glass, glass jewelry, etc.
Green technologies
The rapid economic development of southern China in the last decade brings with it the need to protect the environment, which has been greatly damaged by industrial production. The authorities are starting to gradually introduce legislative measures that allow polluters to be affected. Local enterprises focused on environmental protection are looking for foreign technologies in the fields of waste management, wastewater treatment, energy saving, air pollution and noise abatement.
The investment is prospective in the field of tourism and services in general. In recent years, Macao has seen significant investments in infrastructure (airport, new container terminal, new terminal for passenger shipping, sewage treatment plants) etc. Construction of new residential and commercial projects is being carried out on land reclaimed from the sea between the islands of Taipa and Coloane. The implementation of connecting the infrastructure of Macao, Hong Kong and the southern Chinese province of Guangdong is underway.
